View of a Thousand Cherry Trees (Hitome Senbonzakura)Along the serene Shiroishi River, the remarkable 1,200 cherry trees line the river for 8 kilometers, showing off their delicate pink blossoms. From the bridge across the river, the Hitome Senbonzakura shows off why it is one of the most remarkable spots for cherry blossom viewing in Miyagi.

Matsushima

Matsushima truly embodies its title as “one of three most scenic spots in Japan.” Approximately 260 pine-covered islands varying in shape and size lie along the peaceful Matsushima Bay. Its scenic view has attracted visitors to this region for centuries, leaving visitors breathless and speechless to its beauty. Matsushima is also home to historical temples, preserved to share the history and culture of Miyagi.

Naruko Gorge

The vast long ravine spreads out before your eyes, offering spectacular views of its natural beauty. The orange, crimson red and gold colors of the autumn leaves are stunning and make this area one of the most popular sites for viewing autumn leaves in Japan, attracting visitors from all throughout the country and overseas alike.

Snow Monsters (Juhyo)

Snow monsters pop up in the winter, covering Zao and bringing delight to visitors of all ages. The trees are covered in snow and formed into these mysterious and unique figures by a natural phenomenon that only occurs in limited areas of Japan, including Zao, Miyagi. Come and take a ride in a snowmobile up the mountain to see these towering, majestic creatures.

Naruko Onsen Resort (Japanese Hot Springs)

Miyagi is home to some of the most famous onsen resorts in all of Japan, several which boast a history dating back to more than 1,000 years. Visitors can enjoy the various health and beauty benefits each hot spring has to offer, as well as the tranquil backdrop for quite a relaxing experience. Naruko Onsen, located in northern Miyagi, is one of the most famous onsen resorts in Miyagi and in Japan, and visitors can enjoy the pearly white spring waters that leave the skin silky smooth.
